News: New Development in NOSAWA & Shirai Smuggling Case
A surprising new development today in the marijuana smuggling case involving NOSAWA Rongai & Io Shirai: According to a blog hosted by SportsNavi, fellow wrestler SUGI and AAA Japan representative Masahiro Hayashi have confessed to the crimes. The apology was first posted to the Japanese-language website Pro Wrestling Info New (pwl-in.com). Only a few details were revealed in my translation, most notably that Hayashi is the one who snuck the marijuana into the pictures NOSAWA & Shirai took back to Japan with them. Hayashi got the drugs from an acquaintance.
It’s not yet known if either SUGI or Hayashi have been or will be arrested or what this means for NOSAWA with regards to the charges, I haven’t heard anything. The charges against Shirai (real name Masami Odate) have been dropped and she has been cleared of any wrongdoing, likely paving the way for her return to Stardom.

I must say, SUGI couldn’t hit a bigger rock bottom, even if he had consumed the drugs he used to frame NOSAWA. And didn’t he give a damm about involving Shirai in all this, nearly ruining her career?
